Barium (II) carbonate with the chemical formula BaCO3, carbonic acid and barium salts. At room temperature, a solid, white / cream granulate, insoluble in water with rhombic crystal shape. At a temperature exceeding 800 ° C, it is transformed into a hexagonal variety, and above 980 ° C into a regular variety. During the thermal roasting process it decomposes into barium oxide and carbon dioxide. It colors the flame with an intense green color. Barium carbonate is obtained by reacting a barite mineral with potassium carbonate under high pressure. Inhalation of barium carbonate dust may cause irritation and damage to the respiratory system. Dust also irritates the skin and eyes. Use caution when using the product and use personal protective equipment. Application of barium carbonate in industry: as a product for sulfate removal in the production of glass, ceramics, enamel and enamel pyrotechnic products in welding processes for the removal of magnesium salts, calcium from boiler water, i.e. softening for the production of high quality reagent; barium oxide as a filler for rubbers, paints, varnishes, paper in the production of clinker bricks, ceramics as an addition to the ceramic charge to remove precipitating calcium and magnesium salts, which cause cracking of finished products
