Calcium chloride dihydrate, white odorless solid in the form of flakes. Recommended especially as road salt. It is a great alternative to table salt – sodium chloride – especially since it works effectively at temperatures even below thirty degrees Celsius – theoretically up to minus 55. Due to the high heat emission during water absorption, it not only binds moisture from dissolved snow and ice, but actively dissolves it . It does not damage the flower beds adjacent to lawns and permanent planting of greenery. When introduced into the soil, it raises its pH, which, with our acid soils, improves its structure. Used as road salt, it does not erode the surface, does not affect the natural environment, does not cause vehicle corrosion, does not damage shoes, metals, rubber, metal sheets, it is harmless to humans and animals.
Calcium chloride in the form of a 30% aqueous solution works well as an anti-dusting agent on gravel and dirt roads. The quantity and composition of the mix should be selected experimentally depending on the prevailing conditions and type of substrate.
Calcium chloride is used in agriculture as a leaf fertilizer for fruit. Especially recommended in the form of a 6-8% aqueous solution when spraying fruit trees. Which ensures a yield of 500 liters of spray liquid per hectare. Fruits with calcium do not crack during ripening, are firmer and last longer during storage.
Calcium chloride is also used in the form of an aqueous solution – 0.7% for young plants and 1% for growing plants and adults – in the fight against tipburn in brassica. Thanks to preventive spraying at a capacity of 500-1000 liters of spray liquid per hectare, the problem of dying young leaves and unsightly brown tips and leaf edges can be completely eliminated. Advanced tipburn can lead to the death and decomposition of affected tissues.
Calcium chloride as an aqueous solution is used to load construction and agricultural machinery. Its solutions are resistant to freezing and, unlike other agents, it does not cause erosion and degradation of rubber and caoutchouc materials from which tires are made.
