Sodium hydroxide, caustic soda, or in the form of an aqueous solution - Sodium Lye. A strongly corrosive, reactive alkali. We offer sodium hydroxide in 25kg bags on a 1,000kg pallet, or in the form of an aqueous solution - Sodium Lye 29 - 51% in 1,150kg IBC pallet containers.
Caustic soda is used in almost all industries. It is a sodium carrier in the production of surfactants, an auxiliary raw material in the papermaking industry, the production of synthetic dyes and in water-purification processes. In the food industry, sodium hydroxide is used by butchers, dairies and sugar factories as a disinfectant and cleaning agent.
Due to its biocidal properties, sodium hydroxide is widely used in livestock breeding to disinfect hives, poultry houses, pigsties, stables, and barns, etc. In the form of sodium lye - a 3% percent aqueous solution - it is great in preventive and planned disinfection of livestock and breeding areas.
Caustic soda is also used as an active agent - in the form of a 1-3% aqueous solution - in disinfection mats for preventive disinfection inside farm properties, e.g. in front of entries to breeding grounds, or on access roads to feed storage and manure removal, as well as in the event of an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, fever or other infectious livestock disease.
Caustic soda is widely used in orchards in Western Europe as a preventive measure or to fight cumbersome yeast infections - commonly known as cancer of fruit trees and vines. Dutch experts, such as Peter van Arkel, recommend using 10% sodium lye - aqueous sodium hydroxide solution - to protect long limbs after winter cutting of trees and vines, as well as using it to combat canceration on trunks and branches. A sodium hydroxide solution is especially recommended for the protection of untreated wounds.
Warning! Sodium hydroxide is a dangerous substance. Even in solid form, it can irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. When using caustic soda or aqueous solutions, use appropriate personal protection equipment.
