Nitric acid 55%, nitric acid (V) is one of the strongest inorganic oxyacids with the chemical formula HNO 3 . Nitric acid is used in the plastics industry, in the chemical industry for the production of mineral fertilizers; in the chemical industry in nitration processes, for the production of dyes; in the food industry to clean acid-resistant steel apparatus and equipment and in gardening to acidify the substrate.
ATTENTION! Explosives and/or drug precursor.

Nitric acid 55% - Nitric acid (V) in the jargon is often incorrectly called an azeotrope - an azeotrope is a mixture of chemical substances remaining in thermodynamic equilibrium with saturated steam, for an aqueous solution of nitric acid such a concentration is 65%, however, it is common to incorrectly refer to nitric acid as an azeotrope.
Nitric acid shows very high chemical activity, dissociates completely even under the influence of small amounts of water. Nitric acid and its compounds - mainly salts - have a strong oxidizing effect. It reacts very violently with most proteins, which is why it is commonly used in the food industry as a universal cleaning and disinfecting agent. Unfortunately, due to its strong oxidizing properties, it causes rapid corrosion of most unprotected metals, which significantly limits its use in this area.
Particularly willingly used in dairies, breweries, juice factories and other plants where closed technological lines for pasteurization and homogenization of liquids and colloidal systems are subjected to the washing and disinfection process. The technological line is flooded with a small amount of nitric acid. The acid is pumped through a closed system. It removes any product residue, leaving a sterile, sterilized surface behind. Before the next technological start-up, the line disinfected in this way is neutralized by rinsing with a sodium hydroxide solution - soda lye.
In addition, nitric acid is used in the chemical industry as a raw material for chemical syntheses, as a raw material in the pharmaceutical industry, for the production of dyes, varnishes, plastics and nitrogen fertilizers. Its salts are used in the arms industry and pyrotechnics due to their strong oxidizing properties.
