ROKAnol LK2 - Laureth-2 - CAS 68439-50-9 co-creates a group of surfactants based on lauryl alcohol with a carbon distribution of C12-C14. It differs from ROKAnol® L2 (INCI name: Laureth-2) in its reduced water content (max. 0.1%), and therefore is mainly used as an intermediate in the production of anionic surfactants from the group of lauryl ether sulfates (SLES).

It has the form of a transparent or turbid liquid, with time clear at the top and turbid with sediment at the bottom. It has a color of max. 50 on the Hazen scale at 40°C. ROKAnol® LK2 is poorly soluble in water, in which it forms turbid solutions. The commercial product contains over 99.9% of active substance and solidifies at approx. 0°C. Compared to other ROKAnol® L series, it is characterized by a low HLB value.

In addition to its use in the sulfatation process, ROKAnol® LK2 can be used as a component of cosmetic formulations. In shampoos, shower gels, bath liquids and other washable cosmetics, it acts as a cleaning agent and a rheology modifier (thickening agent). It also has the ability to solubilize a wide range of perfumes and active ingredients.

ROKAnol® LK2 is used in various types of preparations intended for washing, cleaning and laundry. Most often, it is one of the ingredients of the composition in combination with other non-ionic, anionic or cationic surfactants. ROKAnol® LK2 can be used in the environment of oxidizing, reducing agents and hard water. It is active in acidic, neutral and diluted alkali baths.

The product is used in the pre-treatment of fibers as a component of the formulation removing oil stains (mineral oils) from fabrics/knitwear, which are the result of industrial knitting and weaving processes. It can also be used in the final stage of processing of textile materials, i.e. in finishing preparations improving the utility properties of fabrics/knitwear.

ROKAnol® LK2 does not exhibit foaming properties, but it is characterized by very good detergent, emulsifying and dispersing properties. It is a product that is biodegradable in the natural environment.
