ROKAmid RAD - Oleamide DEA, Rapamide DEA is a rapeseed oil-based, non-ionic surfactant belonging to the alkanolamide group (INCI Rapamide DEA or Oleamide DEA). It occurs as a clear or slightly turbid liquid. It usually has a color from light yellow to yellow. The product is classified as a co-surfactant, but is not as widely used as Cocamide DEA. However, it is characterized by better thickening properties.
As a component of formulations containing anionic compounds, ROKAmid RAD acts as a rheology modifier. It causes thickening, improving the consistency of the finished product. The product works effectively even at low concentrations. In combination with anionic surfactants, it generates foams of high stability and density. It is effective at both low and high temperatures.
ROKAmid RAD is a surfactant with good antistatic and emulsifying properties. It supports the action of other emulsifiers responsible for the production of many different emulsions.
Thanks to its ability to re-oilyse, ROKAmid RAD is used in washing preparations. Since the washing process removes, among other things, fatty substances, re-oilysing agents such as ROKAmid RAD are deliberately used. They are designed to rebuild the lipid barrier of the skin or hair. As a washing substance, it also removes other impurities from the surface of the skin and hair.
The product also works well as a component of industrial cleaning agents. It is also used in the production of degreasing preparations in the oil industry. In this application, the synergistic effect of the product with other non-ionic degreasing agents is primarily used.
Due to its very good interaction with anionic surfactants, ROKAmid RAD is used in the construction industry as a component of concrete admixtures. It works very well here as an air-entraining additive. In mixtures with metallic salts, the product creates an antistatic additive for polystyrene and impact-resistant polystyrene mixtures.
The dispersing properties of ROKAmid RAD predispose it to use in lubricant preparations used in the production of plastic parts based on polyethylene and polypropylene. The surfactant also works well in water-soluble, semi-synthetic and synthetic coolants for metalworking and in preparations for polishing metal surfaces.
The liquid form of ROKAmid RAD makes handling the product easy, especially during dosing, transport and storage. It also allows combining the ingredients of mixtures without the need for heating. This is important in the case of active ingredients of the formulation, sensitive to high temperatures.
