About product
Potassium ferrocyanide trihydrate technical grade – inorganic chemical compound, complex salt. Used as an anti-caking agent, e.g. for road salt. For the production of pigments such as Prussian blue, characterized by a strong blue shade. In the galvanic industry as a component of the galvanic bath. In chemical analysis used as a laboratory reagent. Potassium ferrocyanide is available on order, lead time 5 days from the date of order confirmation.
Potassium ferrocyanide trihydrate, (also known as potassium hexacyanoferrate (II) hydrated), K4[Fe(CN)6]*3H2O - yellow crystalline Gmelin salt - is a complex salt. The central atom is iron, and the ligands are six cyanide anions. Highly soluble in water. Under the influence of UV radiation, it changes color from yellow to blue. It is a very stable complex that does not exhibit high toxicity. When heated above 80 oC, it turns into an anhydrous compound, it has reducing properties. It is used in the production of pigments such as: Prussian blue, iron blue, in galvanic baths, in classical photography in the cyanotype technique and in chemical analysis as a chemical reagent. It is an additive to food as an anti-caking agent. Most often, we will encounter potassium ferrocyanide in table salt, which is also enriched with iodides and fluorides. The hygroscopicity of sodium chloride with additives is high and it causes caking, thanks to the addition of potassium ferrocyanide symbol E 536 the salt is loose and flows easily. It is also used in dentistry as a preparation for protecting baby teeth in children.
