How to wash dishes economically?

Publish date: 2017-03-22

Washing dishes in the dishwasher is economical and ecological. However, if we have chosen to wash our dishes by hand - we should follow a few rules that will save us time and reduce expenses on water and detergents. How to wash dishes quickly and effectively?

Washing dishes by hand will be more effective the better you prepare for it. First of all, we need to choose a high-quality dishwashing liquid, preferably in the form of a concentrate (e.g. FLO dishwashing liquids will work great) as well as a sponge and a brush. It is also important to prepare the workplace. If we have a two-chamber sink, one chamber can be used for washing and the other for rinsing. There should also be a dish dryer as close to the sink as possible.

Before we start washing - remove all the leftovers from the dishes, and then sort them depending on the degree of soiling. We always start washing with the least soiled dishes, and leave the most soiled ones at the end (burnt pots are soaked beforehand). We wash the dishes in hot water (the hotter it is, the faster and more effectively it dissolves dirt), preferably poured into the sink chamber or a bowl inserted into the sink. If we decide to wash dishes under running water - invest in an aerator and a tap with a lever (these solutions will definitely reduce water consumption). Always put the detergent on a sponge or brush (3-4 drops of concentrate are enough!) - do not pour it on the dishes. Put the washed dishes into the second chamber and rinse them in larger quantities (not one at a time). We use cool water for rinsing (it's cheaper than warm!).
