ROKwinol 20 PF is in the form of an oily, clear or slightly opalescent liquid with a light yellow to light brown color. The product is characterized by very good solubility in water and polar solvents, i.e. ethanol, ethyl acetate, methanol. It is practically insoluble in oils and liquid paraffin.

The production of ROKwinol 20 PF includes three stages. The third stage is the post-treatment process, which aims to remove undesirable intermediates and by-products formed during the synthesis. The physical and chemical parameters of ROKwinol 20PF are fully consistent with the current monograph for Polysorbate 20 described in the latest edition of the European Pharmacopoeia. In addition, the product meets the stringent requirements for low content of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane and heavy metals.

ROKwinol 20 PF is a non-ionic emulsifier used in O/W formulations. It is introduced into the formulation in order to give the drug the right consistency. Among other things, it is responsible for the emulsification of active ingredients, vitamins or other additives that are hardly soluble in water. It also acts as a binder, and in the production of capsules or tablets, it is a kind of base. It is also used as a wetting agent in flavored throat drops, helping the other ingredients to disperse properly.

The FDA organization approves the use of Polysorbate 20 as an inactive drug ingredient in such forms of application as: vaccines, suspensions, capsules, tablets, eye/ear drops, aerosol preparations, suppositories.
