Sodium hypochlorite - WHO recommended disinfectant

Publish date: 2017-01-26

Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is an aqueous solution containing 15% active chlorine. This product is one of the most widely used biocides in the world. Its properties allow it to effectively fight various types of microorganisms - including fungi, bacteria or viruses such as HIV or those that cause hepatitis B (hepatitis). An important advantage of hypochlorite is resistance to low temperatures - its solution solidifies only at -17 degrees Celsius.

Thanks to the PH factor of 14, sodium hypochlorite works very effectively as a means for all kinds of disinfection. Suffice it to say that even the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of NaOCl as a biocide. The use of this product in disinfection is extremely wide. It is very willingly used in sewage treatment and for the treatment of drinking water and water intended for economic purposes (especially popular for disinfection of swimming pools). It is worth noting that it will also work as a means for cleaning bathroom fittings and sanitary devices, as well as many machines (e.g. in the dairy industry).
